It’s part of Makita’s expanding 18V Lithium-Ion series, the world’s largest cordless tool line-up powered by 18V Lithium-Ion slide-style batteries. Makita 18V Lithium-Ion batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger.
For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star Protection Computer Controls. Star Protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. For increased versatility, the tool can also be powered by Makita 18V LXT and Compact Lithium-Ion batteries with the star symbol on the battery indicating Star Protection inside.

Absolutely fantastic purchase and perfect for our backyard. This was not overly taxing to put together and has weathered to heavy down pours (thunderstorms) so far. The instructions were not laid out in a manner that made sense (to me) but still easy to follow. I was very surprised that all of the pieces lined up and required no modifications. The insert in the roof cabin was perfect for light and fan installations. Again...fantastic purchase and we are looking forward to many evenings underneath this shelter.

I searched forever to find a small space guest bed solution...looked at various futons/convertible chairs/etc. but this ottoman is amazing—I couldn’t be happier with it so far. It will function as an ottoman most of the time in my bedroom turned dressing room...it’s nice to sit on while I put my shoes on etc. but converts easily + quickly to a bed. No assembly was required. It’s a very well thought out, functional design.
